Specifications

Modernist modular book case by Gebroeders Reins, Netherlands 1940s

Modernist book case. Designed and made by gebroeders Reens.
Early flat packed furniture design with a patented system of connecting the parts. Ingenious method by interlocking the different parts and securing them with a brass bracket.

Made out of 4 sections. The upper part is open and 20cm in depth. The 2 middle sections have glass sliding doors. The lower part has a lid. The lid still has the original key. The hinges on the lid are designed to prevent it from dropping down. By opening the lid and lifting it up, it will open up completely.

The patent for the joint system has been patented in 1946. This bookcase was probably produced around that time making it around 80 years old. It is still in very good condition considering its age. Quality made Dutch design.
